In Astronist terminology, an astral night, cosmic night, or a night of astrality, is a clear night sky during which astronomical progeny and phenomena are observable. This type of night sky is associated with a higher degree of cosmicality and presents an opportunity to conduct various Astronist practices, devotions, and to participate in other activities, such as visiting a sopharium.
An astral night is often contrasted with a nepholic night which is a night sky that is cloudy and therefore holds a reduced cosmicality or a reduced ability to conduct Astronist practices. The term astrality relates to the extent to which the night sky is clear and the extent to which astronomical progeny and phenomena can be observed, thus holding a direct impact on a person's religiosity and philosophicality for that particular evening.
